- 2 tbsp (16 g) paprika
- 1 tbsp (8 g) kosher salt
- 1 tsp (5 g) chili powder
- 1 tsp (5 g) granulated garlic or garlic powder
- 1 tsp (5 g) granulated onion or onion powder
- 1 tsp (5 g) freshly ground black pepper
- 1/2 tsp (2 g) ground mustard
- 1/4 tsp (1 g) cayenne pepper
- 2 racks baby back pork ribs (4 to 5 lbs)
- 1 can (398 mL) Hunt’s® Original Tomato Sauce
- 1/4 cup (60 mL) dark (cooking) molasses
- 1 tbsp (15 mL) apple cider vinegar
- 1 tbsp (15 mL) Worcestershire sauce
- 1/4 cup (60 mL) thinly sliced green onions
Directions
-
Step one
Preheat oven to 275°F (140°C). Place wire rack on rimmed baking sheet and spray with cooking spray.
-
Step two
In small bowl, stir together 1/4 cup (60 mL) brown sugar, paprika, salt, chili powder, granulated garlic, granulated onion, black pepper, ground mustard and cayenne pepper. Reserve 1/4 cup (60 mL) of spice rub and set aside.
-
Step three
Season ribs on both sides with remaining spice rub and arrange on baking rack.
-
Step four
Bake ribs, turning once, for 3 hours or until tender.
-
Step five
Meanwhile, in small saucepan set over medium-high heat, stir together tomato sauce, molasses, remaining brown sugar, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce and reserved spice rub; bring to a boil, stirring frequently. Reduce heat to low and simmer, stirring occasionally, for 30 minutes or until thickened.
-
Step six
Spray cold grates of gas or charcoal grill with cooking spray. Preheat to medium heat.
-
Step seven
Brush ribs on both sides with tomato sauce mixture. Grill ribs, turning and basting with more sauce as desired, until lightly charred on both sides, about 20 minutes.
-
Step eight
Serve with any remaining tomato sauce mixture. Garnish with green onions.
